Universal Destination

I’m staring at a blank sky
cataract eyes
the milky way is a small piece of universe
my heart could hold it
in harp string palms
we’ll sing the bridge together
I never saw you in the light
couldn’t get past the first words
your lips stopped me every time
you told me to let go
so I did
and danced on pinstripes

it’s a long night and all I want in the world is
lying next to your skin is perfect
together we make some sort of
liplust addiction
a movement towards heaven
if ever there were such a thing

it’s summer again
sticky skin and rib bones
our feet have touched every stone
this city is so small
we’ll drink the downtown in one gulp
roving as a pack of two
we predate insanity
predatorial longing
I can feel you when you’re near me
you told me to
scream as much as I like
and baby I like to scream

it’s a long night and all I want in the world is
lying next to your skin is perfect
together we make some sort of
liplust addiction
a movement towards heaven
if ever there were such a thing

I captured you in a moan
just one release of breathe
right there
I could feel your heartbeat in my earlobe
slick so slick
I wanted to share you with the world
this creature I found
directionless love seeping from
I had always wanted a you
a destination
distant and unreachable star

it’s a long night and all I need in the world is
I was sleeping beneath the stars
eyes wet with the grass dew
the milkyway stretched catlike above
the universe as space
and somewhere out there a destination

I kept you in my pocket
until you wore thin and clear
I began to lose little bits of you
shedding soulskin here and there
I realized too late
when you were gone
no sad endings I promised
I’ve collected too many
hands open and
hearts that beat in off rhythms
perfection is so
I let go
I let go
I let go
I let you
Go
